Airbnb Backyard Pickleball Court Buildout

Location: Tampa, FL

Project Narrative

This project involved designing and constructing a full pickleball court for a private Airbnb property, offering guests a premium amenity and enhancing the overall value of the rental. The client wanted a professional-level playing surface along with an attractive, low-maintenance aesthetic for the surrounding area.

Our team handled the project from initial concept through completion, including full site design, architectural renderings, detailed construction drawings, and all required permitting through the City of Tampa. Once permitting was approved, we performed a full excavation and built a durable asphalt foundation engineered specifically for sports applications.

After the asphalt cured, we applied custom Acrytech surfacing and color coatings to deliver a vibrant, brand-new pickleball court. We completed the build by installing perimeter turf with built-in drainage and a semi-permanent net system for easy guest use.

Scope of Work

  • Completed full design package including renderings, drawings, and permitting.
  • Excavated 7 inches of base material.
  • Installed and compacted 5 inches of crushed rock foundation.
  • Paved 2 inches of HMA (hot mix asphalt) for a durable court base.
  • Applied Acrytech premium acrylic resurfacer and custom color coatings.
  • Installed perimeter turf with integrated drainage system.
  • Installed a semi-permanent pickleball net system from Addict Pickleball.

Outcome

The Airbnb’s previously unused backyard area was transformed into a standout guest amenity: a fully custom, professional-grade pickleball court with clean turf surroundings and long-term durability. The final result elevates the property’s appeal and provides a fun, unique experience for guests.
